Pawsome!

Congratulations to Faithful Friends of Wilmington on their very successful motorcycle benefit ride today. Over 700 bikes made the trip along Route 9 from Mike's Famous Harley Davidson of New Castle to Coleman's Tree Farm in Middletown. Until I got home from church and over there, things had pretty much finished up, but I had a chance to chat with Co-Chairman of the event, Jim Golden, who shared with the me the great turn out.

Forced Reality

"How do we know the sky is not black and we are all just color blind?" - Anonymous

Not every day turns out like you plan, but you owe it to yourself to make the most of it. Had wanted to take in a huge car show at the State Fairgrounds this morning, then head over to check out Canal Day in Chesapeake City and end the day with a barbecue at a friend's house. But that wasn't in the cards. So, instead I took what life gave me and ran with it (well, actually more of fat man hobble, but you get the idea). The morale? Haven't the foggiest notion.

A big thank you to Kathryn and Eric of Clear Channel's 92.9 Tom FM (and 94.7 WDSD) for displaying my photo album of the "Miles for Minutes" motorcycle ride this past Saturday on their website. I really appreciate the acknowledgment.

A big thank you to niece Nicole and her husband, Michael, for stopping by today for a visit. The expecting mom-to-be is starting to look a lot like her uncle from the side these days.

Ride Baby, Ride

Their thunderous roar came through Port Penn just before lunch time this morning. Hundreds of bikes joined in the 40-mile charity ride, from New Castle to Dover (DE) to benefit "Miles for Minutes*."

Relay for Life

"Hope is putting faith to work when doubting would be easier." - Anonymous

Before last night, I'd never been to an American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event. WOW! That is quite a powerful experience. If you've never been to one, may I encourage you to find one in your neighborhood and just check it out (as a participant or just with a donation).

They lit luminaries to encircle the track and then everyone did a lap in remembrance of those who had succumbed to this horrific disease. It was at that moment I realized how blessed I was to be walking hand-in-hand with my wife (an eight-year cancer survivor) when it, honestly, could have been in honor of her.
