Winter can play havoc with a photographer. On one hand, you will have some spectacular outdoor shots that will only be available this time of the year and, on the other hand, your camera's batteries absolutely hate Jack Frost and his freezing cohorts. 

What to do? What to do?

TIP: Always keep a fresh set of batteries in your shirt or pants pocket. NOT in your camera bag and NOT in your jacket, but in a pocket closest to your own body's heat. When your camera indicates no charge, simply switch out the warm, pocketed one for the used one. And, chances are good, if you place the old one back in your pocket and let it warm up some, you'll have another short burst of energy from that one too, if needed.
