Taking Pictures in Public is Not as Simple as 1-2-3

Taking pictures of people in public and of public property, especially since 9-11, has taken on a whole new meaning. Knowing what you can and cannot photograph has never been more important to the amateur shutterbug.

The following link is an article, printed in USA Today, from the digital goddess, Kim Komando. I think it's a good starter place to raise your awareness level and keep you out of hot water. Read the story and take the quiz, "Think twice before taking pictures in public" here.

And Oregon attorney Bert Krages has published a photographer's Bill of Rights; a pretty good guide on what to do when, and if, confronted by the law enforcement about your photography habits. Read it here.

PLEASE NOTE - My opinions on this subject, are just that, my opinions and should not be relied upon solely for legal judgment. I encourage you to do your own research and/or consult an attorney.
